Perfectly minimlist for the pomodoro techniquer, nice not to have to waste screen space on an actual app window.

Minimal app to count down.
Fix this issue and it’s perfect!! Thanks!
Didn’t occur to me that the thing wouldn’t beep, rendering it useless to me personally. Still 3 stars since it does what it intends just fine.
Its a great, simple app Id even pay for but I want the option to count up, not just down. I want to time how long it takes me to read or do something.
I downloaded Activity Timer yesterday to help me manage my time while studying. It is a great, simple app that does exactly what it’s supposed to do. It’s pretty straightforward. You select the amount of time you want the timer to run (there are some preset intervals, but you can also make your own), and at the end of that amount of time, a sound goes off and a notification appears in your status bar (go to Notifications in Settings and make sure it’s active). For example, I set a 30-min timer for studying, and then after that goes off, I set either a 5- or 10-min timer for a break. Other cool features: you can choose what you want the notification to say - i.e. “Great job! Time for a break!” or “Break time is over!” You can also choose the sound you want for the notification. In addition, you can set the app so you cannot see any kind of countdown on your screen. This is helpful to me because I constantly want to watch it if there is a visible countdown. Overall highly recommend. Does what it’s supposed to do, easy-to-use interface, nondistracting.
The perfect desktop replacement for the iOS clock app’s timer. Has a great set of options; easily customizable timers and messags. Fits in nicely with my normal workflow; utilizing the best of OS X enhancements. Great app; exactly what I needed.
It is a great time. Nicely stays in the title bar and pops up a message when done. However, you need to restart the timer every time it is done. I am looking for something that gives a gentle reminder every few minutes and would love to have a repeat feature added to this fantastic tool.
Doesnt’ work, never once heard the tone after the countdown ended. Also, you have to pre-load all the timer settings you want, so if you’re making a timer for a new time you haven’t already preset, it’s very cumbersome. Had it for a total of 28 minutes, because I set 2 10-minutes timers, then waster 8 extra minutes because I hadn’t realized the timer had ended. Would give it 0 stars.
The timer works fine on OS X 10.10.2, using the system alert volume and sounds, as well as an alert window with customizable text. One can create several timers for different uses, and start/stop them from a menubar countdown (optional). The GUI is clean and simple, with no un-nescessary art. That’s the way I like it. It seems to fit into the Yosemite GUI nicely. When setting up several custom timers, they didn’t organize correctly based on duration. But, the menubar was correct, and when entering Preferences again, it was correct. A Notification Center Widget would be a helpful improvement, as well as mutiple timers, and repeat timers.
This is a good unobtrusive activity timer. It is very simple to use and stays out of your way. Feature Request: Add a preference that allows the app to automatically launch when I log into the computer. I almost always want to use it right away. How am I using it? I’ve recently switched to a standing desk and I use the timer to keep track of how long I’ve been sitting and standing. This is helping me "pace myself" as I adapt to more standing and less sitting.
Simple, easy to use, beautiful. Very well done.
It would be awesome if there was a setting that would make it so the timer automatically restarts without me having to tell it to.
Exacty what I was looking for. Clean simple, easy to use. Much better than the otehr 5 I have tried. If you’re looking to just keep a slight reminder for yourself to stay on track, this is the one!
Respect for the developers.
Love this timer. I’ve used it for a while. I like its simplicity. The new version is good too. I like how there is a pop-up when the timer has finished. I sometimes don’t see the small pop-up that appears in the corner of my screen so having one in the middle of my screen is a good reminder to take a break.
The updated version improves on the already very good app. The pop-up when timer is finished is a useful addition, but could be made even better by having an option to make it persistent and require users to dismiss. Currently, the pop-up shows up very briefly and can be easily missed if I happen to not be looking at the screen.
I used to love the super minimal UI. It was very streamlined and super easy to quicky start a timer with no fuss. Now that streamlined UI has been replaced with a huge menu and a ton of options. Not even kidding, it stresses me out when I open it. You guys had something great, now I’ve gotta find another timer app.
It’s simple and does what it claims. The UI is fine dispite what other reviewers might say.
I can not for the life of me, figure out why the notifications do not work on this App. I think the UI is fine, and I like how I can set the personal messages, but if it’s not notifying me, then I honestly have no idea why I’m using this.
